Domestic Violence 101 for Beauty Professionals

At Micah’s Place, we know that professionals in the beauty industry have unique, trusting relationships with their clients. This often creates safe spaces for individuals to open up about personal challenges and sensitive topics. Because of this unique connection, we’re launching a specialized workshop designed to equip beauty professionals with the tools and knowledge to recognize and support those impacted by domestic violence.

Our Domestic Violence Awareness Workshop for Beauty Professionals will take participants through the complexities of domestic violence, helping them learn how to identify potential signs and respond in ways that are sensitive and supportive. Beauty professionals will also learn when and how to make referrals to Micah’s Place for further assistance. Our goal is to help those in this industry be a first line of support, able to direct survivors to the resources and services that can make a life-changing difference.

Workshop Highlights

  1. Recognizing Signs of Domestic Violence: Attendees will learn to spot potential indicators of abuse, whether it’s subtle changes in behavior or physical signs. We’ll discuss the varied ways domestic violence can manifest, covering the less obvious signs that clients may exhibit and ensuring beauty professionals have the awareness needed to spot them.

  2. Gaining a Nuanced Understanding: Domestic violence is complex, and it affects each individual differently. This segment will explore the diverse ways domestic violence impacts survivors and delve into the psychological, emotional, and social aspects. Participants will leave with a more comprehensive understanding, equipped to better connect with clients facing these situations.

  3. Responding Effectively and Referring to Support Services: Knowing what to do when a client opens up about a sensitive issue can be daunting. This workshop will prepare beauty professionals to respond with empathy and practical advice, teaching when to listen, how to respect boundaries, and when to make a referral to Micah’s Place for specialized support services.

Why This Matters

Beauty professionals often serve as confidants and trusted advisors, giving them a unique opportunity to extend compassion and direct survivors to life-saving support. Our workshop is designed to empower attendees to be that bridge to safety and healing.

If you’re a beauty professional, consider joining us for this transformative workshop. Together, we can make our community a safer, more supportive place for everyone.
